Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 2026

ECMafia keeps things simple. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you. The only technologies we use are strictly necessary to keep the site working — listed transparently below.

1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage — both are used to remember information between page loads (for example, keeping you logged in).

Under UK law, these technologies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and, where they involve personal data, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

2. Types of Cookies and Storage We Use

All items listed on this page are classed as strictly necessary — they are essential to provide the service you have requested. Under PECR, strictly necessary technologies do not require consent.

Site-owned local storage

Stored directly in your browser by ECMafia. These are never transmitted to third-party networks and are only read by our site to keep you logged in.

Third-party cookies (Stripe)

When you make a payment, our payment processor Stripe sets a small number of cookies on their own secure payment iframe. These are used exclusively for fraud prevention and completing your transaction securely. ECMafia does not read these cookies.

For full details of Stripe's cookie use, see the Stripe Cookie Policy.

3. What We Don't Use

To be clear about what we avoid, ECMafia does not use:

If we ever introduce technologies that require consent under PECR, we will update this page and present a clear cookie consent banner before any non-essential technology is activated.

4. How to Control Cookies and Local Storage

Even though all items we use are strictly necessary, you remain in control of your browser's storage at all times.

Clear storage manually

What happens if you block or clear them

If you clear ecm_user_token and ecm_user, you will simply be logged out and need to log in again. You can still browse and enter competitions. If you block Stripe's cookies entirely, payments may not work — so please allow them at checkout time.

Logging out

Logging out of your ECMafia account automatically removes both ecm_user_token and ecm_user from your browser.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to be informed about how we store information on your device. That's what this page is for. You also retain all your UK GDPR rights in relation to any personal data we hold about you.

If our cookie use ever changes or we introduce any new technology, we will update this page with the change date at the top and, where legally required, request fresh consent.
